Clarity with a plush touch.

Overview

Kumanui is a color scheme and design palette inspired by a beloved yellow bear plushie. Its colors are derived in OKLCH - a perceptual color space of lightness, chroma, and hue - and generated from a single source of truth, so every value is explainable and the CSS, terminal profiles, and docs always agree. It ships as two schemes, Kumanui Dark and Kumanui Light, for terminals, the web, and UI. This very site is themed with Kumanui.

Principles

  • Honest - true color and accurate claims: predictable out of the box, reproducible from one source of truth, and explainable down to the OKLCH math.
  • Readable - strong text contrast for productivity, verified against WCAG.
  • Soft - a warm, friendly identity (the bear).

Brand colors

Four signature colors anchor the theme:

  • KumaBlack (#222232) - primary structure and the dark surface.
  • KumaYellow (#FFDD00) - the primary accent, the bear's body.
  • KumaBrown (#573320) - a warm neutral, the bear's nose and the ink on yellow fills.
  • KumaCyan (#39C4C4) - the secondary accent, the lake in the bear's forest.
